Observation Point Hike
Zion National Park, Utah
Here are 12 photos from my hike to Observation Point in Utah's Zion National Park on April 11, 2014.
The hike goes from the floor of Zion Canyon to the top via the East Rim Trail. It's 8.0 miles (12.9 km) round trip with an elevation gain of 2,148 feet (655 meters).
While not as famous as the hike to Angels Landing because it doesn't have a knife-edge trail with chains, this hike is arguably more scenic and less crowded, although longer and more strenuous. Both hikes are outstanding, but I slightly prefer the one to Observation Point for its incredible views.
This trail was closed long-term in 2019 due to a large rockfall. Check the park website for current conditions.
