Scenes from Black Canyon of the Gunnison
Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Colorado
Here are six photos from Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in Colorado.
In 2019, Arizona's Grand Canyon National Park had thirteen times the visitation of Black Canyon, but don't be fooled by the disparity. This spectacular park is arguably one of the most underappreciated national parks. With its narrow canyon, steep cliffs, and roaring Gunnison River, the park offers a feast of dramatic vistas.
These photos were taken in late September. The first four are from the South Rim, and the last two are from the North Rim.
The first photo appears in the book Go Outside and Come Back Better.
