MARTA's Peachtree Center Station
Atlanta, Georgia
Here are seven photos from Peachtree Center Station of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) subway system in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to a 1982 poster on the platform, the station is (or was) "one of only a few tunnels in the world where the walls and ceiling were carved from solid rock" - gneiss, in this case.
At a depth of 120 feet (37 meters), the station has some of the longest escalators in the Southeast. One is shown in the last photo.
Photography at all MARTA facilities requires written permission.
